homage to the open road
Apr. 17th, 2009 | 12:00 pm
mood:
determined
music: spring birds chirping
i wish to withdraw
from this feigned disaster
here and now,
not in the idle there-after.
a song of laughter rings out
from the carillon tower
distributing time
in exchange for more power.
perchance this hour
i shall take to the road
singing to walt whitman
or to the pavement below.
and i do not know
what the city shall say
when i enter alone
and depart the same way.
i know either way
folks home won't know
they just go about business
it is my business to go
from this feigned disaster
here and now,
not in the idle there-after.
a song of laughter rings out
from the carillon tower
distributing time
in exchange for more power.
perchance this hour
i shall take to the road
singing to walt whitman
or to the pavement below.
and i do not know
what the city shall say
when i enter alone
and depart the same way.
i know either way
folks home won't know
they just go about business
it is my business to go
